REAPER is a bargain at 60 euro for home use as it is fully featured and not crippled in any way and it is stable.Īll I can say if you like what you get from Mixbus over REAPER and you are mixing audio and don't need large number of busses then for 19euro the standard version it's a pretty good deal.R2R 2014.04.30 | WiN: | 55.13 MB | MAC: 58.3 MB | Linux: 62.84 MB I do like Cubase but the one I have is limited, like mixbus it has built in channel strip with basic EQ and comp and I like groove agent for messing with drums.įor 19 euros mixbus 4 is worth it I think but there is also a more expensive version which maybe sounds better and has 12 mixbusses instead of 8. I don't know if I will move completely to mixbus or Cubase as I have still not got exactly what I want from them yet, the controls on Mixbus are tiny and the EQ is difficult to see on a laptop. I'm still more comfortable with REAPER generally as I have more time on it, I have a few paid plugins Waves Omin Scheps and EMI TG12345, T-racks Classic rack as well as the REAPER plugins and some free stuff I found around the web that I use with REAPER of course they work with Mixbus too. I think of mixbus as one giant channel strip plugin. This leads me to a different sounding mix than I might make with REAPER not better or preferable but different. The thing I find with mixbus is that because each track has built in channel strip and the mix busses also have a channel strip and tape saturation I find I add less plugins because the EQs and Comps are already there.Īs these built in plugins all come from the same manufacture who just happens to make great sounding consoles (never used one but I hear they are great) I'm sure it all adds up to something that maybe sounds nice because there is continuity with all the built in stuff coming from one manufacture emulating there own console. I using REAPER as well as Cubase LE that came with an interface. At that price it was worth buying to play around with. I bought Mixbus for 19 euro a couple of weeks ago.
